While this may have come as a shock to the group’s cult-following, listening to Wood’s lyrics throughout \u003cem\u003eAnts From Up There\u003c\/em\u003e, it becomes clear that the record was intended to be his breakup album with the group. Wood references a dying relationship with “Concorde,” a style of supersonic jet that was discontinued in the early aughts. On the third track, Wood sings “but for less than a moment we'd share the same sky, and then Isaac will suffer, Concorde will fly” a line that perfectly captures the undertone of the album (for the band to continue and grow, Wood needed to leave). After all, the band’s sound has changed drastically since their \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.com\/search?type=article%2Cpage%2Cproduct\u0026amp;q=For%20the%20First%20Time\u0026amp;_=pf\u0026amp;pf_v_artist_manufacturer=Black%20Country%2C%20New%20Road\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.com\/search?type=article%2Cpage%2Cproduct\u0026amp;q=For%20the%20First%20Time\u0026amp;_=pf\u0026amp;pf_v_artist_manufacturer=Black%20Country%2C%20New%20Road\" target=\"_blank\"\u003edebut\u003c\/a\u003e, leaving behind many post-punk tropes to shift towards chamber-pop a la \u003cstrong\u003eArcade Fire\u003c\/strong\u003e’s \u003cem\u003eFuneral\u003c\/em\u003e. The Montreal indie-rock group’s influence comes through heavily on tracks “Chaos Space Marine,” “Good Will Hunting,” and the closer “Basketball Shoes.” Scattered throughout the album there are also hints of \u003cem\u003eKlezmer\u003c\/em\u003e, a genre of Jewish folk music studied by some of the members. \u003cem\u003eAnts From Up There\u003c\/em\u003e is by-far the group's most accessible work, and while it may be the end of the first era of the group, they are still pushing their sound forward with their latest release \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.com\/products\/black-country-new-road-live-at-bush-hall-vinyl-lp\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eLive at Bush Hall\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e.
